Course Objectives: The aim of this course is to give information about the institutions, functioning and structures of the Ottoman Empire. The changes and developments in the structure of the state and its institutions in the process of the Ottomans reaching the level of empire from the border principality, their impact on social structure, trade and political developments will be discussed.

At the end of this course the student;
1. Will have in-depth knowledge about the institutions and functions of the Ottoman Empire.
2. Will have knowledge about the construction of the ideology of the Empire, Ottoman law and bureaucracy, trade, economy, etc. during the establishment and rise periods, which are called the classical period.

Course Content

The classical age of the Ottoman Empire, social and economic history, political relations and historical context.

The teaching methods of the course are classical learning methods as well as travel and observation.
