Course Objectives: The purpose of this course is to provide students with knowledge about early childhood and family relationships in light of contemporary child development theories.

The students who have succeeded in this course;
Students who successfully complete this course will:
1)Understand the place and status of early childhood education worldwide,
2)Comprehend the approaches and theories in Turkey and other countries,
3)Analyze current and recent theories applied in early childhood education,
4)Recognize different early childhood models and practices implemented globally,
5)Understand the early childhood education models applied in Turkey.

Course Content

Topics covered include the status of early childhood education in Turkey and worldwide, theories in child-rearing and child education (Piaget, Vygotsky, Skinner, Bandura, Arnold Gessell, Bronfenbrenner, Eliot Turiel, etc.).
