Course Objectives: This ourse provides an overview of the biology, sociology and psychology of aging and the resources available to the aged. The responsibilities of geriatric care providers are discussed

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
At the end of this course, students will:
to create a geriatric care management plan for elderly patients
to properly communicate with the elderly
list the changes in disease management in geriatric patient group
to be able to include family members in the care of the geriatric group patients
learn techniques for caring for patients with dementia and Alzheimer's disease
list the risks of overdose and drug interactions in elderly which are generally likely to have multiple prescriptions

Course Content

Understanding the biology, physiology and genetics of getting old and list the special conditions necessary for the proper medical management of this group of patients

1) The process of aging and the basic principles for the management of the elderly. Examination of mouth and throat and inserting a nasogastric catheter are to be thought in clinical skills, In evidence based medicine, the research being an economic analysis is going to be evaluated. -
2) Special disease states in the elderly, the diagnosis and treatment. Examination of mouth and throat and inserting a nasogastric catheter are to be thought in clinical skills. -
3) Genetic basis of aging, dementia and Alzheimer. In evidence based medicine, the research being an an economic analysis is going to be evaluated. -
4) Social aspect of aging and its management. Block examination. -
