Course Objectives: The aim of this present block is to gain knowledge on the pathogenesis of the disorders related to musculoskeletal system. The signs and symptoms of musculoskeletal disorders, related risk factors, prevention, diagnosis, principles of treatment and rehabilitation will also be discussed.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
At the end of this block, students will:

1. Define the genetic and molecular mechanisms of musculoskeletal and soft tissue disorders
2. Define the pathologic processes and the macroscopic and microscopic characteristics of musculoskeletal disorders, gain knowledge about the signs and symptoms of these disorders
3. Gain knowledge about the approach to diagnosis, principles of treatment and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal disorders
4. Gain knowledge about microorganism that affect these disorders and define their pathogenesis in this process
5. Define the pharmacological characteristics and clinical indications of drugs used in the disorders related with musculoskeletal system.

Course Content

The content of this committee includes defining the molecular mechanisms underlying pathogenesis of musculoskeletal system disorders, epidemiology of these type of disorders, clinical and radiological diagnosis and therapeutic approaches. Pharmacologic properties of drugs used in these groups of disorders will be introduced.

1) Basic pathology, genetic and molecular mechanism of developmental and acquired abnormalities of musculoskeletal system. -
2) Clinical and radiological features of musculoskeletal disorders, pathology of arthritis, tumors of the musculoskeletal system and pharmacology of drugs used in these disorders -
3) Clinical basis of infectious organisms affecting musculoskeletal disorders, their pathogenesis in infectious process , the pharmacotherapy of musculoskeletal disorders -
4) Clinical, radiological,pathological aspects of rheumatological disorders, medical pharmacology of antiinflamatory and musculoskelatal system drugs -
5) Clinical aspects and medical and surgical treatments of orthopaedic and traumatologic disorders of musculoskeletal system, principles of physical rehabilitation of these disorders -
