Course Objectives: This course has three main objectives. First of all, Roman law is analyzed with a historical perception. Secondly Roman Law of Obligations is recognized and studied through various tutorials. Third objective is to evaluate the Roman foundations of the current Turkish law in a comparative manner.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
Analyze the historical evolution of Roman law.
Recognize the legacy of Roman law for European and Turkish law.
Define the principle notions of Roman obligations law.
Define different types of contracts in Roman law.
Analyze the Roman contracts and Turkish contracts in a comparative manner.

Course Content

This course content is limitated to Roman Private Law which is the source of Civil Law and Law of Obbligations.
