| The content of this course addresses the concept of the family life cycle from both theoretical and practical perspectives, covering the developmental tasks, transitional periods, and crisis processes encountered at various stages of family life. Throughout the course, family systems theories and life cycle models (such as the Carter & McGoldrick model) are used as a foundation to analyze stages ranging from the premarital period to the transition to parenthood, child-rearing, adolescence, the empty nest phase, aging, and loss. The course examines how roles, relationships, and family dynamics evolve during these stages. It also explores how major life events such as divorce, remarriage, migration, and illness impact the family life cycle. Considering different family structures (e.g., single-parent families, extended families, blended families) and cultural factors, the course encourages students to develop counseling, support, and intervention strategies applicable to each stage of the family life cycle. |
