Course Objectives: The main objective of the course is to introduce the concepts of interactive sound design. The techniques of interactive sound design will be exercised via object oriented programming software while the aesthetics will be established through historical research as well as analysis of contemporary sound art. The principles of interactive sound design will be evaluated through applications and design projects.

Introduction to Interactive Sound Design, Foundation of Sound & Acoustics, Introduction to a brief Electronic Music History, Foundations of Digital Audio, Introduction to the object oriented programming language: Max MSP, Basic code grammar via Max and MSP, Introduction to Sound Synthesis Techniques, Additive Synthesis, Amplitude Modulation, Tremolo & Ring Modulation, Frequency Modulation & Vibrato, Subtractive Synthesis, Waveshaping, Recording & Playback, Live Input & Live Input Processing, Working with Loops, Sampling Review, Delay & Feedback Lines Design, Chorus, Flanging and Comb Filtering Design, Audio Production: Fundamentals of Audio Mixing, High‐end software aid: Ableton Live, Avid Pro Tools HD and Waves Plug‐ins, MIDI mapping, Developing an Object Library, FFT: Frequency Domain Signal Processing, Granular Synthesis, Polyphonic Synthesis.
