Course Objectives: The objectives of this course are enable students to gain knowledge about the basic strategies of epidemiology and epidemiological research and the types of applications of epidemiology; to teach the basic epidemiological knowledge, during health planning the distribution of diseases in the society and to determine the factors that affect them, to examine the person, place, and time characteristics of diseases, to assess the concept of disease via mathematical criteria.

Learning Outcomes

The students who have succeeded in this course;
o Explain the conceptual basis of epidemiology
o Interpret the basic approach of epidemiology,
o Give examples of the basic strategies of epidemiology,
o Evaluate epidemiological research types and applications,
o Compare the distribution and propagation of diseases in society and the factors that affect them
o Classify the diseases as properties, person, place and time,
o Explain the evaluation of the disease concept via mathematical methods.

Course Content

This course covers the conceptual basis of epidemiology, the basic approach of epidemiology, examples of the basic strategies of epidemiology, epidemiological research types and applications, the distribution and propagation of diseases in society and the factors that affect them, the diseases as properties, person, place and time, evaluation of the disease concept via mathematical methods.
