Course Objectives: |
The aim of this course is to help students from diverse undergraduate programs identify their position within the vast and multifaceted discipline of architecture, building upon the foundational architectural knowledge they have acquired during their undergraduate studies to shape their future paths.
This Master's architectural design studio integrates extensive research and design, presented within a structured framework that includes practical applications related to the researched topic. The studio allows students to engage with the expansive field of architecture across various scales and subjects, employing a diverse array of design and research methods. The course fosters advanced critical thinking by encouraging engagement with contemporary architectural discourse and urban theory. Through this studio, students will learn and refine design-based research methods, enhancing their ability to address complex architectural challenges. |
This course is a graduate-level project, designed as a studio process in the structure of a thesis study. The course focuses on addressing a design problem through an intensive academic and theoretical approach, with the expectation of developing a solution proposal within this framework.
The aim of this project is to go beyond the theoretical definition of public space, and point the complexity and contradictions, temporary and/or permenant, heterogenious and/or homogeneous aspects embedded in a public space in the metropolis of Istanbul. Furthermore, based on theoretical background and the site-specific research, design strategies and proposals are going to be prepared to create a dialect with the emerging characteristics of the public space.
